Fornasetti is an Italian design company started by Piero Fornasetti in the early 1900's. The company is now run by Piero’s son and produces one-of-a-kind creations of what can only be described as a collection of practical madness. I created this catalogue to feature a collection of Fornasetti’s vast body of work. The catalogue also offers insight into Piero Fornasetti’s life and his inspiration and drive to create. The scenes I created to hold the objects are collaged together with other elements of vintage etchings are brought in to accent the scenes and reference the components he uses in his creations. Piero Fornasetti worked with an array of materials including glass, fabric, porcelain and wood. His fanciful pieces were always witty and imaginative. In his motifs, he favored engravings, the sun, moon and stars, playing cards, animals and surrealistic images. My goal was to bring these to the viewer and create a piece of art within itself that lets the one really see and experience his materials.
